Lalgarh: Sunday is the fourth day of the Lalgarh offensive and the gunbattle between the security forces and the Maoists is continuing since night.
Security forces are still in Lalgarh where they are holding fort. Search for armed Maoists is also going on in the Jhitka forest. Now, the security forces are preparing to advance into Lalgarh through another route, that of Goaltore.
Home Minister P Chidambaram also said that the situation in Lalgarh is sensitive and tense.
On Saturday, they had entered through Pirakata where there was a landmine blast. Goaltore is one of the three approaches the security forces are trying to dominate.
After a slow, deliberate advance, security forces reentered Lalgarh on Saturday. The police forces even said that they would reclaim Lalgarh in 48 hours.
After four hours of march, they reached the Lalgarh police station, which had been barricaded for the past six months, to a warm welcome.
Lalgarh is not the final destination. It will be tough to reach the villages to flush out Maoists and establish the rule of law. The people's committee against police atrocity that has spearheaded the movement promises stiff resistance.
