"Papa, Sister Are Fine": Tejashwi Yadav On Lalu Yadav's Kidney Transplant

On the kidney transplant, Lalu Prasad's daughter and donor Rohini Acharya had said it is "just a small chunk of flesh" that she wanted to give to her father.

Rashtriya Janata Dal President Lalu Yadav's kidney transplant process has been successful, Bihar deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav said. His daughter Rohini Acharya donated her kidney to Lalu Prasad. He has now been moved to the intensive care unit (ICU)

Sharing a pre-surgery photo with her father on Twitter, Ms Acharya said she is "ready to rock and roll" and asked her followers to wish her luck.  

Mr Yadav, who has been suffering from kidney-related problems, was advised a transplant. Ms Acharya had confirmed to NDTV she would be donating one of her kidneys to her father, referring to herself as "destiny's child."

Ms Acharya, the Singapore-based second daughter of the veteran politician, often talks about her parents on Twitter. She recently tweeted, "My mother and father are God to me. I can do anything for them."

On the kidney transplant, she had said it is "just a small chunk of flesh" that she wanted to give to her father.

Her sister, and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Yadav's eldest daughter Dr. Misa Bharti who is a Rajya Sabha MP, tweeted an update from Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore, where the surgery is taking place. She stated, "Donor operation of younger sister Rohini has been done successfully. She is completely healthy now in ICU. Dad's operation is going on now." 

She also shared a photo of her and her father before his surgery. 

Mr. Yadav's son, the incumbent Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav, shared a video of the septuagenarian politician being wheeled out after surgery, saying "After Papa's kidney transplant operation was successful, he was shifted from operation theater to ICU. Donor elder sister Rohini Acharya and National President both are healthy. Thank you for your prayers and good wishes." 

A convict in fodder scam cases, Mr Yadav is currently out on bail due to health issues. He had visited Singapore for treatment earlier this year but had to return due to the expiry of the period a Delhi court had fixed for his foreign visit. He is currently in Singapore to undergo his kidney transplant.
