New Delhi: Rajniti Prasad of Lalu's Rashtriya Janta Dal walked up to V Narayanasamy in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday evening and ripped up papers which he then flung while shouting "Lokpal nahin chalega" (Lokpal would not work).
Mr Prasad was the last speaker in Thursday's lengthy debate on the Lokpal Bill, which seeks to create a new ombudsman agency to investigate politicians and civil servants for corruption.
Lalu has opposed the Lokpal Bill. Two nights ago, he walked out of the Lok Sabha with his MPs, when the bill was put to vote in the Lower House. By effectively abstaining from the vote, his party helped the government push the bill through. Mulayam Singh Yadav's Samjawadi Party had also walked out of the Lok Sabha.
