Lankan crisis washes to Kerala coast
Kollam:

The Sri Lanka crisis washes to Kerala's coasts. The police are looking for LTTE fugitives in Neendakara in Kollam. The entire coast is on high alert. Special patrolling units are checking suspicious boats operating here, verifying the antecedents of the fishermen. Navy, the coast guard and the police are working together.

"We are sealing the border and getting the patrolling intensified. All boats which are moving
suspiciously are checked and this patrolling is being done in three shifts of eight hours," says Inspector Mahesh.

Even though the coastal police have sufficient police personnel for patrolling their biggest problem is well equipped boat, for the time being they are patrolling the area in this hired boat.

The Sri Lankan army has said no boat has left the country with LTTE members. But with the situation still volatile, the security forces in Kerala are taking no chances.
