Lashkar-e-Taiba suspect arrested from West Bengal

Raiganj: A suspected linkman of terror outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba was arrested from Malda district today and taken to North Dinajpur district for interrogation, a top police official today said.

35-year-old Md Abu Bakkar, owner of a cyber cafe at Shamsi in Malda district's Chanchal police station area, was arrested on information passed by another LeT suspect Md Alauddin who was nabbed a few days back in North Dinajpur district, SP Akhilesh Chaturvedi said.

The North Dinajpur district SP said that the hard discs of the computers at the cyber cafe were seized and brought for examination by the Intelligence Bureau officials from Delhi stationed in Raigunj for the past few days.

With the arrest of Abu Bakkar, three suspected LeT linkmen were thus caught in the police net, the two others being Md Bashir who was arrested from Bihar's Katihar district and Md Alauddin nabbed from Raigunj, the SP said.

According to police sources Md Bashir is the husband of Md Alauddin's sister and was a member of the LeT sleeper cell.

Bashir worked closely with LeT terrorist Abdul Karim Tunda, the mastermind of several blasts across the country, who was picked up from the Indo-Nepal border by the Delhi police, they said.
