Latest News Live Updates: The recovery rate is 97.25 per cent.

New Delhi:

India's COVID-19 infection tally climbed to 1,08,47,304 with 9,110 new cases in a day, while 1,05,48,521 people have recuperated so far pushing the national recovery rate to 97.25 per cent on Tuesday, according to Union Health Ministry data.

There are 1,43,625 active cases of coronavirus infection in the country which accounts for 1.32 per cent of the total caseload, the data stated.

The death count climbed to 1,55,158 with the novel coronavirus virus claiming 78 lives in a span of 24 hours in the country, the data showed.

The COVID-19 case fatality rate stood at 1.43 per cent.

Meanwhile, as many as 31 bodies have been recovered from different areas that were affected by the glacier burst in Chamoli district in Uttarakhand, while over 200 people are still missing, said State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) on Monday.

SDRF in a statement said that people who were reported missing after the glacier burst and have survived the tragedy are coming forward to report their presence to the administration.

65.28 Lakh Frontline Workers Vaccinated So Far: Centre

The number of healthcare and frontline workers vaccinated against COVID-19 has reached 65.28 lakh on day 25 of the nationwide inoculation drive, the Union Health Ministry said on Tuesday.

All states and Union Territories, except Uttar Pradesh, reported vaccination activity on Tuesday.

The cumulative number of healthcare workers and frontline workers vaccinated against COVID-19 till Tuesday 6:30 pm is 65,28,210, according to a provisional report, the ministry said.

97% People Satisfied With Coronavirus Vaccine After Getting Jabs: Centre

Over 97 per cent of 7.75 lakh people surveyed after receiving anti-coronavirus vaccine shots have expressed satisfaction with the immunisation process, the Union Health Ministry said on Tuesday.

The government is taking feedback from those vaccinated since January 17 through its mobile app CoWIN and has got responses from 7.75 lakh people, Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said at a press conference.

The nationwide inoculation drive against COVID-19 was launched on January 16 with over three crore healthcare and frontline workers prioritised to get the jabs initially.

Health Minister Distributes Blankets, Masks, Among Destitute At AIIMS' Vishram Sadan

Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan distributed woolen blankets, masks and soaps among the destitute staying at Vishram Sadan in AIIMS, New Delhi, and thanked the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) for the initiative, his ministry said on Tuesday.

70 From UP Missing After Uttarakhand Glacier Disaster: Report

At least 70 people from Uttar Pradesh are feared missing in the glacier burst at Joshimath in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district that triggered an avalanche and a deluge in the Alaknanda river system that washed away hydroelectric stations on Sunday, officials said.

Of the 70 people, 34 are from Lakhimpur Kheri district alone.

"As of now, 70 people from Uttar Pradesh are feared missing, including 34 from Lakhimpur Kheri, nine from Saharanpur and five from Shravasti," Relief Commissioner of Uttar Pradesh Sanjay Goyal told news agency Press Trust of India on Tuesday.

Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath sent a team of three ministers to Uttarakhand for better coordination with the state in carrying out relief works after the disaster, an official spokesperson said.

A joint WHO and China expert mission investigating the origins of the Covid-19 pandemic in Wuhan said on Tuesday it had not found the animal host responsible for transferring the virus to humans.
