Tractor Rally in Delhi: Thousands of farmers knocked down barricades as they entered Delhi.
New Delhi: One farmer has died as protesting farmers clashed with police at ITO in the heart of national capital. Thousands of protesting farmers, who entered into Delhi with their tractors this morning, also poured into the Red Fort complex by afternoon, prompting security personnel to resort to lathicharge and tear gas.
The police have managed to remove them from inside the fort using batons. Outside the fort, tractors took over the Ramlila Maidan, the site where the farmers had originally planned their protest. The farmers have blamed "anti-social elements" for the violence.
A high level meeting is underway at Union Home Minister Amit Shah's residence where he is being briefed about today's situation. The Home Secretary and Delhi Police Commissioner are in attendance.
Internet services have been temporarily suspended in some parts of Delhi amid clashes between the police and thousands of agitating farmers, whose tractor rally veered off the permitted course, news agency ANI has reported.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has closed the entry and exit gates at several metro stations, mainly in north and central Delhi as the situation escalated.
"We came here to deliver a message to the Modi government, our job is done. We will go back now," one of the farmers told NDTV at the Red Fort. "We managed to reach the Fort even though they tried to stop us. We will not stop till we reach our goal -- the repeal of the three farm laws," a farmer said.
In earliers visuals from ITO, one of the main intersections in Delhi near media offices and the police headquarters, policemen in riot gear appeared to be outnumbered. The policemen were seen running or hiding behind cars as farmers armed with sticks chased them with sticks and ramming their tractors into the buses parked by police.

Delhi Police registers four FIRs in connection with farmers' tractor parade
The Delhi Police on Tuesday registered four FIRs in connection with the protesting farmers'' tractor parade in the national capital, officials said.
"Three FIRs were registered in east district and one in Shahdara district on Tuesday," a police official said.
Earlier in the day, the tractor parade meant to highlight the demands of the farmer unions dissolved into anarchy on the streets of the city as tens of thousands of protesters broke through barriers, fought with police, overturned vehicles and hoisted a religious flag from the ramparts of the iconic Red Fort.
A protester died after his tractor overturned near ITO, one of the major flashpoints of the trouble.
In a statement, the city police said protesting farmers violated the pre-decided conditions agreed upon for their tractor parade.

Traffic mayhem in many parts of Delhi due to farmers' tractor paradeTraffic went haywire on national capital roads on Tuesday as the tractor parade taken out by farmers spilled into many parts of the city and reached Central Delhi's ITO and Red Fort areas despite police raising barricades and checkpoints at multiple places.
Wielding sticks and clubs and holding the tricolour and union flags, tens of thousands of farmers atop tractors broke barriers, clashed with police and entered Delhi from various points to lay siege to the Red Fort and climb the flagpole on Republic Day.
The traffic on the city roads, though thin due to the Republic Day holiday, was thrown completely out of gear with hordes of protesting farmers deviating from the pre-designed rally routes and driving their tractors towards Delhi from Singhu, Tikri, Ghazipur and other border points.
With police and farmers involved in clashes at many places, some parts of the city were cut off with Traffic Police regulating movement of vehicles in view of presence of farmers at places such as ITO, Red Fort, Nangloi, Anand Vihar, Mukarba Chowk and Akshardham.
The Delhi Traffic Police took to Twitter to update commuters about situation developing on roads in different parts of the city.

Farmers rally: Tractor march held peacefully in Maharashtra's AurangabadA tractor march organised in Maharashtra on Tuesday to extend support to the protesting farmers in New Delhi passed off peacefully.
Around 150 to 200 people, five tractors, cars, and two-wheelers participated in the morcha, which started from Delhi Gate and culminated at Bhadkal gate, separated by a distance of about 2.2 kms.
The march was organised by the Maharashtra Rajya Kisan Sabha and the Maharashtra Rajya Lal Bawta Shetmajur Union.
Some workers of the Congress also joined the procession.
Ram Baheti, one of the organisers of the march, told reporters that around 4,000 volunteers from Aurangabad had recently visited Delhi and participated in the agitations being held at borders of the national capital.
Farmers on tractor try to break barricade on Palwal-Faridabad borderThe Palwal police chief and another officer had a narrow escape Tuesday as some protesting farmers allegedly drove their tractors dangerously and tried to break barricades to force their way into Delhi through a non-designated route at Palwal-Faridabad border, police said.
They said the farmers had been given a different route for their tractor parade, but they did not stick to it, forcing the police to resort to lathicharge.
A Palwal police official said some farmers drove their tractors dangerously on the Agra-Mathura-Delhi Highway, endangering the lives of police personnel on duty, which prompted the police action.
Some farmers were injured in the incident. Palwal SP Gahlawat told PTI a few policemen were also hurt.
"We were trying to persuade them (farmers) to use the designated route allotted to them, but some among them turned violent. About 4-5 tractors dangerously drove towards us and I and one more officer had a narrow escape," he said.
He said it was at that point that the police decided to use force to stop the farmers from proceeding ahead in that fashion.
Additional security forces to be deployed in Delhi to maintain law and orderThe Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) will deploy additional paramilitary forces in the national capital amid a tense security situation following clashes between protesting farmers and Delhi Police.
Sources in the government said that the process of sending additional paramilitary forces has been initiated following the conclusion of a meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, during which the decision was made.
The meeting was attended by top officials like Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, Delhi Police Commissioner SN Srivastava and the director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB).
"Yesterday, 15 companies of paramilitary forces were sent to Delhi. Ten were from CRPF and rest five were from other paramilitary forces. Similarly, five companies were on standby today," a senior government official told ANI.
In the meeting that lasted for almost 90 minutes, the Home Minister also took stock of the law and order situation in the national capital.
According to sources in the government, since this morning the MHA has been getting hourly updates and has been monitoring the situation in Delhi. Senior Delhi police officials briefed Union Home secretary Ajay Bhalla about the situation in the afternoon, sources informed.

Farmers Protest: Rajasthan farmers take out tractor rally into neighbouring Haryana
Farmers who have been agitating at Shahjahanpur in Alwar near Rajasthan-Haryana border took out a tractor rally to Manesar (Haryana) on Tuesday.
Former CPI(M) MLA Amra Ram said hundreds of tractors and other vehicles participated in the rally.
"Our rally from Shahjahanpur to Manesar was peaceful and it received a good response from people. The rally started at around 11 am and concluded in the evening," he said.
Bhiwadi Superintendent of Police Ram Moorti Joshi said nearly 300 tractors entered neighbouring Haryana from the state.
In Delhi, groups of farmers started going back to their respective sit-in sites on Tuesday evening after hours of chaos during their tractor parade against the farm laws in the national capital.
Farmers, unions stage protests in Tamil Nadu against farm lawsFarmers and trade unions in Tamil Nadu on Tuesday held protests against the Centre's new farm laws as well as in support of the protestors opposing them in Delhi for the past two months.
Many protesters, who took out motorcycle rallies, carried the National flag and also placards with slogans condemning the farm laws in many parts of the state although police had declined permission for the procession.
Such processions were held in Thanjavur, Coimbatore, Tiruchirappalli and Nagapattinam, among others. Tense moments prevailed for sometime in Thanjavur when a group of farmers had a scuffle with the police for stopping them. Farmers held tractor rallies in Tiruchirappalli in support of the ryots. According to superintendent of police, Tiruchirappalli (in-charge), Senthil Kumar, no arrests were made.
In Cuddalore too, farmers rode two-wheelers and staged a protest.

Two Delhi Police officials including a Deputy Commissioner (DCP) were injured at Ghazipur border on Monday while trying to stop agitating farmers from breaking the barricades.
Additional DCP (East) Manjeet and a probationer IPS officer got injured while they were trying to stop farmers from breaking the barricades. The DCP had a close shave as one of the farmers tried to to hit him with his tractor.
Meanwhile, agitating farmers forced their way into central Delhi on the Republic Day using tractors to move barricades erected by the police. Protesting farmers reached ITO after breaking police barricades placed opposite old Delhi Police headquarters and were seen vandalising vehicles.
Several people including police personnel suffered injuries during the clash between protesting farmers and police.

"Demands can be made by any section of the society and there can be a way out. But the process adopted while enacting the farm laws was faulty since the beginning. In Parliament too, the opposition was not heard," he said.

Farmers Protest Red Fort: Sikh religious flag was hoisted by protesters at Red FortThe flag hoisted by protesters from a staff at the iconic Red Fort during their tractor parade against the farm laws on Tuesday was the ''Nishan Sahib'', a symbol of Sikh religion seen at all Gurdwara complexes.
The ''Nishan Sahib'' is a triangular flag that is sacred to Sikhs. The emblem on the flag comprises of ''Khanda'', a two-edged sword, Chakra, a disc, and two Kirpans that cross each other at the handles.
The other flag appeared to be of a farmer union.
A large number of protesters deviated from the designated route for the proposed tractor parade in the national capital and barged into the Red Fort. They were later removed by the police.

Several additional metro stations closed due to farmers' protest
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Tuesday announced that the entry and exit gates of all stations of the Grey Line have been closed, as clashes between the farmers and Delhi Police intensified during protests against the Centre''s three new farm laws.
"Security Update Entry/exit gates of all stations on grey line are closed," tweeted DMRC.
Meanwhile, entry and exit was also barred at Dilshad Garden, Jhilmil, Mansarovar Park and Jama Masjid metro stations.
"Security Update Entry/exit gates of Dilshad Garden, Jhilmil and Mansarovar Park are closed," DMRC tweeted.
"Security Update Entry/exit gates of Jama Masjid metro station are closed," it said in a subsequent tweet.
The gates of several other metro stations had been closed earlier today as the protests intensified.
"Entry/exit gates of Samaypur Badli, Rohini Sector 18/19, Haiderpur Badli Mor, Jahangir Puri, Adarsh Nagar, Azadpur, Model Town, GTB Nagar, Vishwavidyalaya, Vidhan Sabha and Civil Lines are closed," DMRC tweeted.
Entry/exit gates of all stations on the green line, Lal Quila, Indraprastha and ITO metro stations have been closed.

Chaos reigned for nearly 90 minutes as some protesters, including ''Nihangs'' (traditional Sikh warriors), forced their way into the Red Fort and hoisted a flag from the staff from which the prime minister unfurls the tricolour on Independence Day.
The police later resorted to lathi-charge to vacate the Red Fort premises. Continuous announcements were being made asking the protesters to leave the complex peacefully.
Earlier, the farmers had deviated from the designated route for the proposed tractor parade against the new farm laws and moved toward ITO in central Delhi.

Taractor Rally news: Tractor with 2 farmers overturns during stunt at Delhi-Noida Border
A tractor with two farmers on it overturned during a stunt at the Delhi-Noida border on Tuesday morning, as scores of protesters gathered here for demonstration against the new farm laws.
The tractor was being driven in a circular path at a high speed when it lost balance and overturned, while the two persons on board got minor injuries during the act at the Chilla border in the morning.
The sight of the overturned tractor, bearing a tricolour and a flag of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Bhanu), was short lived as several protesters came together to put the vehicle back on its four tyres. (Read full story
