With 13,052 new coronavirus infections being reported in a day, India's COVID-19 tally has gone up to 1,07,46,183, while the number of people who have recuperated from the disease has surged to 1,04,23,125, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Sunday.
The national recovery rate has climbed to 96.99 per cent. The death count increased to 1,54,274 with 127 new fatalities, the data updated at 8 am showed.

The total COVID-19 active cases remained below 2 lakh for the 12th consecutive day.
There are 1,68,784 active coronavirus infections in the country which comprises 1.57 per cent of the total caseload, the data stated.
Meanwhile, Serum Institute of India, the world's biggest vaccine maker, is hopeful of launching Covovax - developed in partnership with American vaccine developer Novavax - by June, its CEO Adar Poonawalla said on Saturday. The US-based pharma firm's Covid jab was found to be 89.3 per cent effective in a UK trial.
The Pune-based Serum Institute has already applied for local trials for the vaccine candidate in India. "Our partnership for a COVID-19 vaccine with @Novavax has also published excellent efficacy results. We have also applied to start trials in India. Hope to launch #COVOVAX by June 2021!" Adar Poonawalla tweeted this afternoon," Mr Poonawalla's tweet read.

Coronavirus news: Odisha logs 114 new COVID-19 cases, tally rises to 3,35,072
Odisha's COVID-19 caseload on Sunday surged to 3,35,072 after 114 more people tested positive for the infection, a health department official said.
The state's coronavirus death count remained at 1,906 as no fresh fatality has been reported for last six days, the official said.
The new cases were detected in 19 of the state's 30 districts, with 68 reported from different quarantine centres, while the remaining 46 are local contact cases.
Sundergarh district recorded the highest of 21 fresh cases followed by Bargarh (11) and Khurda (9). Of the 19 districts, only two districts reported new positive cases in double digit.
Eleven other districts did not register any new positive cases since Saturday.

Roughly two million residents of the city must stay at home as of Sunday evening, as will those living in the nearby Peel and South West regions.
A scheduled return of schools on Monday will be delayed, with locals only permitted to leave their homes for exercise, medical care, essential work or to buy food.
The new rules follow the first case of community transmission in Western Australia state for 10 months, officials said.

Haryana Congress will organise peace march in every block of the state from February 3 to 5 in support of farmers protesting against the Central agri laws, said state Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) president Kumari Selja on Saturday.
"Haryana Congress will organise peace march in every block of the state from February 3 to 5 in support of farmers protesting against the Central agri laws and also for promoting brotherhood and harmony," Selja told reporters.
"BJP government was crossing all limits of shamelessness. All tactics were being adopted by the party to declare the farmers as traitors," she alleged.
The state party chief asked "what type of patriotism is the BJP exhibiting? It should remember that the families of these farmers have sacrificed their lives for the country. Members of their family are on the borders."

UK Says It Expects No Vaccine Interruption After EU Admits "Blunder"
The European Union has fallen far behind Britain and the United States in the race to vaccinate its public. It announced on Friday it would impose export controls on vaccines, widely seen as a threat to prevent doses from being sent to Britain.
But it was forced to reverse part of the announcement within hours, after both Britain and Ireland complained about plans to impose emergency export controls for vaccines across the land border between Ireland and British-ruled Northern Ireland.

China reports biggest rise in new coronavirus cases in six days
China reported on Sunday the biggest daily increase in new coronavirus cases in six days, driven by a jump in infections in a northeastern city.
Mainland China reported 92 new confirmed cases for Jan. 30, the National Health Commission said in a statement, the highest since Jan. 24.
Of the new confirmed cases, local transmissions accounted for 73, with the city of Tonghua in Jilin province contributing most of the new infections. Northern Hebei province reported one new confirmed case while Heilongjiang reported nine. Beijing and Shanghai had none.
The number of new asymptomatic cases, which China does not classify as confirmed cases, increased to 19 from 16 a day earlier.

Court Rejects Move To Stop "Covishield" Trademark Use By Serum Institute
Earlier this month, Cutis Biotech filed a suit in the civil court seeking to restrain Adar Poonawalla's Serum Institute from using the trademark "Covishield" or other similar names for its COVID-19 vaccine.
The Maharashtra-based Cutis Biotech, which makes pharmaceutical products, claimed it has been using the brand name "Covishield" before the Serum Institute did.
Drug company Cutis Biotech's move to stop the Serum Institute of India from using the trademark "Covishield" has been rejected by a civil court in Pune, the Serum Institute's lawyers said in a note to the media.

New World Order Emerging After Pandemic, Big Role For India, Says PM Modi
