New Delhi: New cases of coronavirus infection in India were recorded over 3.50 lakh, taking the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 1,73,13,163 according to the Union Health Ministry data.
The COVID-19 active caseload is 28,13,658 which now comprises 16.25 per cent of the total infections.
The recovery rate is 82.62 per cent, the data stated.
A total of 3,52,991 new infections were registered in a day, while the death count increased to 1,95,123 with 2,812 daily new fatalities, the data updated at 8 am showed.
Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have assured India and its people of providing all assistance, including urgently sending necessary medical life-saving supplies and equipment, to help the country combat the deadly coronavirus crisis.
"Just as India sent assistance to the United States as our hospitals were strained early in the pandemic, we are determined to help India in its time of need," Joe Biden said in a tweet.

Bengal logs record 15,992 new COVID-19 cases, 68 more deaths
West Bengal registered 68 deaths due to COVID-19, the highest so far in a single day, pushing the count to 11,009, the health department said. The state also reported record 15,992 fresh infections, which took the tally to 7,59,942, the department said in its bulletin. Kolkata alone accounted for 26 deaths, followed by North-24 Parganas at 11, South-24 Parganas at seven, Hooghly at five and Malda at four.

Maharashtra records 48,700 new COVID-19 cases, 524 deaths in last 24 hours
Maharashtra recorded 48,700 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, according to the state health bulletin. The state also recorded 71,736 discharges and 524 deaths in the last 24 hours. With this, the total cases in the state mounted to 43,43,727 including 6,74,770 active cases and 36,01,796 discharges. The death count, however, surged to 65,284 including the new deaths.
