Lavalin case: Guv seeks clarification

Lavalin case: Guv seeks clarification
Thiruvannathapuram: Kerala Governor R S Gavai has sought more clarification from the LDF Government on the SNC Lavalin case.

In a statement released in Thiruvananthapuram, the Governor's office said that the delay in giving opinion on prosecution proceedings was not deliberate. The Governor wants to elicit the views of all concerned before finalising his opinion on the issue, the statement added.

The statement comes in the wake of completion of three-month time given by the Kerala High court to decide on the prosecution proceedings.

Meanwhile, sources say the Governor has sought the assistance of eminent jurists and constitutional experts as he knows his opinion on the SNC Lavalin could have far reaching ramifications in Kerala politics.

The case is 12-year-old in which Pinnarayi Vijayan is accused of giving a contract to a Canadian company SNC Lavalin to renovate and construct power plants. The state exchequer allegedly lost 374 crore rupees as a result.
