Hyderabad: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) President Asaduddin Owaisi has blamed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for farmer suicides in the country, saying his government had failed to come to their aid.
In jibe at PM Modi's announcement in Bihar that a special package of more than Rs 50,000 crore would be announced for the state, the Hyderabad MP sought to know from where this huge amount would come from.
"Farmers' suicides are reported from Vidharbha and Marathwada in Maharashtra and also in Karnataka. Farmers are dying due to debt. They are dying due to the banking system and due to money lenders," the lawmaker said.
"Your (Modi) government failed to help farmers and you are responsible for their deaths," Mr Owaisi said last night.
