Women lawyers demand action on a lawyer's allegation that she was sexually harassed by Supreme Court judge
New Delhi:
The young woman lawyer who alleged that a Supreme Court judge sexually harassed her has said that she has complete faith in the inquiry that's being held by three judges.
In a statement released today, the woman, who testified for the committee of Supreme Court judges on Monday, said "During the meeting, I presented all the details of the case to the Committee. I am confident that the Committee will follow all the different lines of enquiry, and will establish the truth of my statements." (Read entire statement here)
In a blog earlier this month, she said that a judge she was interning for harassed her on Christmas Eve in a hotel room in Delhi. She did not name the judge, but said that he has since retired.
She placed her experience in the context of the anger being expressed in street protests at the time over the fatal gang-rape of a young woman on a moving bus in Delhi.
Six days after her blog was posted, the Supreme Court set up a committee of three judges to investigate the case.
