Leader from Sharad Pawar's party surrenders in attempt-to-murder case
Satara: A leader from Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar's party, Balu Khandare, surrendered today before the police in an attempt-to-murder case against him.

Mr Khandare, who leads the student wing of the Nationalist Congress Party in Satara, Maharashtra, allegedly fired four rounds from his pistol last week at Mangesh Jadhav, a manager of a poll booth in the city.

Mr Jadhav, however, escaped without injury.

Mr Khandare has claimed that he only retaliated in self-defence after Mr  Jadhav and his friends fired at him.

An attempt-to-murder case was registered against Mr Khandare, who had gone missing after the incident. He has now been taken into custody by the Satara Police.
