Shimla:
Panic gripped staff of a girls' college near here when a leopardess strayed into the campus
and wandered in classrooms.
Due to vacations, no classes were being held at St Bede's Girls' College and there were eight classrooms on either side of the corridor which were empty.
Some staff members spotted the leopardess in the corridor at around 11.00 am on Sunday and bolted the doors.
The wildlife officers were informed following which a team led by DFO Yogesh Verma reached the college and tranquilised the wildcat.
It was taken to rescue home at Tootikandi zoo, Verma said, adding the leopardess was absolutely fine.
The leopardess is six-feet long and about six-year-old. Verma said it appeared that the wildcat came from adjoining forests and was bolted into a room before it could escape into
the forest.
