New Delhi: The physically challenged should be referred to as Divyaang (of godly parts) instead of 'Viklaang' (handicapped), Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Mann ki Baat today.
"God gives an 'extra power' to the physically challenged... To us, they may seem at a disadvantage, but they have a special talent within," PM Modi said in the 15th edition of his radio address.
The Prime Minister also spoke of the progress in his two key drives - Clean India and the Direct Benefit Transfer Scheme.
Lately, there have been lots of news reports concerning the Swachhta Abhiyan. "Read something recently. In a village in MP, an old mason got something done which piqued the newspaper's interest. He worked without pay and built over 100 toilets," PM Modi said.
In a phone call today, the man, Dilip Chauhan, expressed appreciation for the cleanliness campaign.
The Direct Benefit Transfer Scheme, which sends the subsidy on LPG to user's account, has been recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records, PM Modi said.
"Around Rs 40,000 crore have been deposited in bank accounts of beneficiaries directly," he added.
