New Delhi: Three people have been badly injured after an elevator they were travelling in crashed 11 storeys in Gurgaon on Tuesday morning.
The incident took place in the Regency Park 2 apartments in Gurgaon's DLF Phase 4, which has 500 flats, according to DLF's website.
The elevator crashed from the 9th floor to the second level in the basement.
The three occupants in the elevator - a woman who stayed in the building, her domestic help and driver - have been hospitalized after the incident.
The driver is said to be critical. The woman will need a knee-replacement surgery, say reports.
A police case has been filed. "Investigation into the incident is underway," Gurgaon Police PRO Ravinder Kumar said.
The elevator, according to reports, was in poor condition.
Reports suggest the elevator was to be changed four years ago, but was postponed by a referendum organized by the residents of the lower floors of the building.
The building is apparently 20 years old.
