Coronavirus Highlights: Malls, hotels, restaurants and places of worship can open on June 8 except in areas with the most number of coronavirus cases, the government said today, extending the nationwide lockdown till June 30 with a phased plan to unlock India.

All activities banned earlier will open up in phases, the home ministry said in new guidelines on Saturday, a day before the current phase of lockdown ends.

Strict orders enforced on March 25, when the country went into a total lockdown to break the chain of transmission of the virus, will be limited to containment zones - areas sealed because of a large number of COVID-19 cases - at least till June 30.

Night curfew will stay, but timings will be changed to 9 pm-5 am from the existing 7 pm-7 am.

India reported the biggest single-day jump in the number of new coronavirus patients and those who died due to the highly infectious illness with 7,964 fresh cases and 265 deaths reported in the last 24 hours, which brings the total to 1,73,763 cases, according to the data shared by Union Health Ministry this morning.

Maharashtra Permits Film Shootings To Resume
The Maharashtra government has permitted the resumption of shootings for films, teleserials, advertisements, OTT, etc with immediate effect subject to certain terms and conditions.

The move came after the filmmakers, actors and office bearers of the Broadcasting Foundation in Mumbai met Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.

The Department of Cultural Affairs has issued a government notification in this regard and the shooting of films, television series, OTT series has been allowed with subject to certain terms and conditions, news agency ANI reported.

Punjab Allows Places Of Worship To Open From June 8 In Lockdown5
The Punjab government on Sunday issued fresh guidelines for the next phase of lockdown, starting on June 1 and allowed the opening of places of worship besides hotels, restaurants and shopping malls from June 8.

The new guidelines also said the lockdown provisions, however, will remain in force in containment zones till June 30.

The new guidelines came a day after Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Saturday announced a four-week extension of the lockdown till June 30 in Punjab.

As per the guidelines issued by the Punjab Home Affairs and Justice Department, the movement of individuals for the non-essential activities shall remain prohibited from 9 pm to 5 am, news agency PTI reported.

Coronavirus news: Kolkata airport issues new set of guidelines for passengers

The Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport authorities on Sunday issued a new set of guidelines for passengers availing flights from Kolkata. It asked passengers to reach the airport three hours before departure time since COVID-19 prevention measures such as bag sanitisation and thermal screening will take longer than usual.

The airport hosted 1,745 passengers arriving and 1,219 departing on the third day of resumption of operations on Saturday, it said in its official twitter handle, PTI reported.

Coronavirus news: 11 arrested, owners of 737 vehicles penalized for lockdown violation in Noida

Eleven people were arrested and owners of 737 vehicles penalised across Noida and Greater Noida on Sunday for allegedly violating lockdown norms, Gautam Buddh Nagar police said.

Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) Section 144 is in force in Gautam Buddh Nagar, whose urban areas fall in COVID-19 ''Red Zone'', even as general lockdown curbs continue due to the pandemic.

COVID-19 news: Odisha reports highest single-day spike with 129 new cases

Odisha registered its highest single-day spike in COVID-19 cases on Sunday after 129 more people, including 119 returnees from other states, tested positive for the infection, a health department official said.

The total number of coronavirus cases in the state rose to 1,948, he said.

The day also witnessed the recovery of 76 patients from different COVID hospitals.

The total number of recoveries increased to 1,126 while the active cases now stood at 813, the official said, adding that seven persons have died of COVID-19 as on Sunday evening while two others succumbed due to other comorbid conditions.

The recovery cases have been reported from 15 districts. Kendrapara reported highest 17 recoveries, PTI reported.

Coronavirus news: Assam conducts over one lakh tests

Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has informed that over one lakh tests for COVID-19 have been done in the State till now.

"Today we have achieved the milestone of conducting more than one lakh COVID-19 tests. Assam has developed the capacity to test 10,000 people per day," State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma told reporters.

"With the increased capacity of testing, we would like to reduce institutional quarantine to four days. When we are able to test 10,000 people per day, we will reach the position to release a person from quarantine within four days, which will save public money," added Sarma.

With 56 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Assam on Sunday, the total count of coronavirus cases has reached 1,272 in the State, ANI reported.

Coronavirus news: 11 people who returned to Tripura from Chennai test COVID-19 positive
Eleven people who returned to Tripura from Chennai recently tested positive for COVID-19, taking the total number of cases in the state to 282, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said on Sunday.

Of the total cases, 172 people have recovered and discharged from hospitals, officials said.

The chief minister said, "810 samples have been tested for COVID-19 in Tripura since last night, out of which 11 were found positive. All of them had returned from Chennai."

Most of the fresh cases in the recent times have been detected among those who returned from outside the state, including Bangladesh, officials said, PTI reported.

Coronavirus news: 61 new COVID-19 positive cases reported in Kerala today

Sixty-one new COVID-19 positive cases have been reported in Kerala on Sunday, taking the total number of active cases in the State to 670, said Kerala Health Minister KK Shailaja.

As many as 15 people tested negative, of the total cases reported today, 20 returned from overseas (UAE-eight, Kuwait-five, Oman-four, Saudi Arabia-one, Qatar-one, Maldives-one), 37 from other states (Maharashtra-20, Tamil Nadu-six, Delhi-five, Karnataka-four, Gujarat-one and Rajasthan-one). Four people got infected through contact while Palakkad and Kollam have reported two cases each.

A total of 590 people have recovered and discharged. As many as ten new locations have been declared as hotspots today taking the total number of hotspots in the state to 116, ANI reported.

Coronavirus news: 52 fined for violating lockdown norms in Ladakh

As many as 52 people were fined on Sunday for violating lockdown norms in Leh district of Ladakh, an official spokesperson said.

A joint team of civil and police officers conducted extensive checking of the vulnerable areas of Leh town and its neighbouring areas and collected Rs 26,000 as fine from 52 people for not wearing masks or face covers, PTI reported.

An Air India flight under Vande Bharat Mission with 154 stranded Indians on board departed from Qatar on Sunday.

This is the 14th flight from Doha under Vande Bharat's mission which was launched early this month to bring back Indians stranded abroad due to coronavirus lockdown, ANI reported.

Coronavirus news: Amid various relaxations, lockdown to continue in UP till June 30

The coronavirus-induced lockdown will remain in force till June 30 in Uttar Pradesh with some relaxations outside the containment zones, said Awanish Awasthi, state's Additional Chief Secretary, Home, on Sunday.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr Awasthi said that religious places, hotels, restaurants and shopping malls will reopen from June 8, ANI reported.

Coronavirus update: 56 more test positive for COVID-19 in Assam; total count 1,272
Assam reported 56 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, taking the total in the state to 1,272, Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

Of the 56 cases, 18 are from Lakhimpur, 12 from Barpeta, seven from Udalguri, five each from Baksa and Dhubri, three from Kamrup and two from Dhemaji, PTI repored.

Coronavirus news: Lockdown extended in Telangana till June 30

Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has decided to extend the lockdown in the State till June 30. Mr Rao held discussions with Chief Secretary Sri Somesh Kumar, DGP Mahender Reddy and other senior officials against the backdrop of the Centre's issuing new guidelines on the Lockdown. It was decided to implement the relaxations given to the guidelines by the Centre in all the areas except in the Containment Zones. The Chief Minister has instructed the officials concerned to implement strictly the lockdown in the containment zones. He wanted the night-time Curfew to be implemented from 9 PM to 5 AM daily. The shops should be open till 8 PM only, Mr Rao said. He also said that there should not be any restrictions on inter-state travel.

Activities related to self employed plumbers, electricians, etc allowed

All government offices function on 15% strength

Phase II (With Effect from 5 June 2020)

All markets, shops, except malls and market places permitted to open on odd-even basis

Need to maintain social distancing and shopkeepers liable for that and if not then shop can be closed

Taxis, rickshaws, cab aggregators permitted with 1+2

Phase III (With Effect from 8 June, 2020)

Private offices with 10% strength to operate rest work from home

Intra-district movement allowed with 50% capacity

Inter-district movement not allowed 

Religious places are not allowed to open

Schools other educational institutes are not allowed to open

Metro is not allowed to open

Passenger trains are not allowed to open

Cinema halls, gyms are not allowed to open

Salons, barber shops, hotels, restaurants not allowed to open
