The AAP has won the elections to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD Election), dislodging the BJP from power after 15 years. The Arvind Kejriwal-led party has vowed to improve civic amenities. BJP, on the other hand, took solace in securing over a hundred wards despite exit polls predicting its rout.
AAP won 132 seats, well past the halfway mark in the 250-member civic body, as against the BJP's 104. Congress has won from nine wards.
Addressing supporters at the party office in Delhi, Mr Kejriwal said he would try to live up to people's expectations and urged all parties to come together to improve Delhi.
"We have to improve the condition of Delhi (for which we) need the cooperation of the BJP, the Congress and also blessings of the Centre and the prime minister," he said.

Over 780 candidates who were in contention in the civic polls in Delhi lost their deposit with the results being announced on Wednesday, according to data shared by the State Election Commission.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has arrived at the AAP headquarters after his party won the civic polls today, ending the BJP's control over Municipal Corporation after 15 years. He is expected to address party workers and supporters shortly.
Results are out for 206 wards of the total 250 in the elections to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. The BJP has won 89 while the AAP has won 110. The Congress has won in six wards. The remaining one has been won by an Independent candidate.

The results are out for five seats - the BJP has won from three while AAP has emerged victorious in two.

Ahead of the counting of votes for the MCD polls, the BJP has exuded hope that the tide will turn in its favour. The exit polls showed that the AAP was going to sweep the MCD polls. "We have hope that the results will prove the exit polls wrong and the BJP will return back to rule the MCD," said Delhi BJP general secretary Dinesh Pratap Singh. Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor said it would be too early to give in to the survey predictions.
