The counting of votes to a key election in the Delhi Civic Body resulted in a hand-to-hand fight between the Aam Aadmi Party and the BJP.

The BJP objected to one vote being made invalid. The Mayor insisted the result of the Standing Committee election, which is understood to be the most powerful body in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, will be declared without the invalid vote.

The decision resulted in a street fight inside the house, with the elected councillors punching, and kicking each other.

During the brawl, Aam Admi Party (AAP) Councillor Ashok Kumar Maanu had collapsed at Delhi Civic Centre alleged that the ruckus had been caused by the BJP goons.

While talking to ANI, Maanu said, "They are so shameless that they attacked even women and the Mayor. BJP goons did this."

After she declared one vote invalid, Ms Oberoi came under the firing line of angry BJP councillors, who shouted "you are not in your senses" at her.

"As soon as BJP realized it is losing the Standing Committee election, it attacked our Mayor. Shelly Oberoi had to run out of the House to save herself. BJP's male councilors physically attacked her.
