Farmers protest LIVE updates: Borders have been sealed ahead of the march.

Farmers on Tuesday morning commenced their 'Delhi Chalo' march from Punjab to press for their demands, amid heavy barricading at Haryana-Punjab border and entry points into the national capital.

The Haryana Police hurled tear gas shells when a group of youth, who were part of the farmers' 'Chalo Delhi' protest march, tried to break barricades set up at the Shambhu border in Ambala, officials said.

Farmers' march: Delhi Police chief inspects security arrangements at Tikri border
 Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora visited the Tikri border on Tuesday to inspect the security arrangements put in place in view of the farmers' march to the national capital.

Mr Arora was accompanied by Special Commissioner, Law and Order, Madhup Tiwari and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Jimmy Chiram.

According to officials, more than 5,000 personnel of police and paramilitary forces have been deployed in the Tikri, Singhu and Ghazipur border areas to maintain law and order.

The Delhi Police on Monday imposed section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) in the entire city and completely secured its borders.

Farmers' Delhi march: Court issues notices to Haryana, Punjab, Centre on two petitions
The Punjab and Haryana High court Tuesday issued notices to the Centre, and the states of Haryana and Punjab, on two separate petitions filed pertaining to the farmers' Delhi Chalo march.

One of the petitioners has sought directions from the court to stay all "obstructive" actions by the governments of Haryana and Punjab and the Union government against the farmers' protest, while the other has pleaded for directions to ensure no highway is blocked by the protesters and those who do so are punished.

The petitions came up for hearing before a bench of Acting Chief Justice GS Sandhawalia and Justice Lapita Banerji.

Youth Congress protests outside MP assembly over unemployment, Harda explosion
 Youth Congress workers on Tuesday tried to climb the barricades while protesting on the road leading to the Madhya Pradesh Vidhan Sabha over issues like unemployment, Harda firecrackers factory blast, and atrocities against women, forcing the police to use water cannons and tear gas to disperse them.

The police detained 40 to 50 protesters, an official said.

The budget session of the state assembly is currently underway.

A massive blast and subsequent blaze at the firecrackers unit in Harda town on February 6 claimed 13 lives and left more than 200 people injured.

"How can country progress when farmers are attacked with tear gas shells", asks Mamata Banerjee
As police fired tear gas shells at farmers at the Shambhu border between Haryana and Punjab while they marched towards Delhi, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee questioned how the country could progress if farmers fighting for their basic rights are being attacked.

"How can our country progress when the farmers are attacked with tear gas shells for fighting for their basic rights? I strongly condemn the brutal assault on our farmers by the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party)," Banerjee said in a post on 'X'.

Chief Justice takes note of traffic issues
Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud said on Tuesday that the bench will accommodate lawyers if they are facing problems due to road congestion as Delhi faced traffic jams due to farmers' protests.

The assurance from a bench led by CJI Chandrachud came in the morning when the bench assembled to hear the proceedings.

The court said that if any lawyer faces a problem with traffic issues, the bench will accomodate.
