Budget Session Live: Second Part Of Budget Session From Today

The second half of the Budget session will conclude on April 8. The first half of the Budget session began on January 31 and concluded on February 11.

Budget Session 2022: Rajya Sabha will sit from 11 am till 6 pm during the scheduled 19 sittings.

Amid declining COVID-19 cases in the country, the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha resumed their normal sittings for the second part of the Budget session.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was given a rousing welcome by BJP members in the Lok Sabha on Monday. This is the first time that the House is meeting after the BJP's overwhelming victory in the recent series of assembly elections held in February-March.

The BJP won in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur while the Aam Aadmi Party emerged victorious in Punjab.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi and other opposition leaders were present in the House.

Rajya Sabha will get additional 19 hours of business time in the second part of the Budget session of Parliament, resuming from Monday.

The House will sit from 11 am till 6 pm during the scheduled 19 sittings.

Ultraviolet radiation equipment installed in RS to contain COVID-19 spread
Rajya Sabha chairman M Venkaiah Naidu on Monday said ultraviolet C-band radiation equipment has been installed in chambers of the House to contain the spread of coronavirus.

"I am happy to inform you all that the secretariat has recently installed another safety measure in the chambers of this august House to contain the spread of coronavirus. Equipment has been installed to contain the spread of virus through ultraviolet C-band radiation which is very effective in killing the virus," he said.

The technology has been developed by CSIR-CSIO.

Speaking on the first day of the second part of the Budget Session, Mr Naidu noted that with the waning of the third wave, both the Houses of parliament have returned to sitting from 11 am as against working in two shifts during the first part of the session.

Left, TMC seek to raise EPFO rate cut issue in Rajya Sabha
Left and TMC members in the Rajya Sabha on Monday tried to raise the issue of lowering of interest rate on employees' provident fund deposits.

However, Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu did not permit them, saying they should first give a notice to raise the matter.

Soon after the House mourned the demise of four former members and tabling of listed papers and reports, CPI member Binoy Viswam, and some TMC members wanted to raise the issue related to the proposal to lower the interest rate to a four-decade low of 8.1 per cent for fiscal 2021-22 from 8.5 per cent in the previous year.

Government assures Lok Sabha on future of Indian students evacuated from Ukraine
The government on Monday assured the Lok Sabha it will look into measures that can be taken so Indian students brought back to the country from Ukraine under Operation Ganga can complete their education.

Union Minister for Education Dharmendra Pradhan also said that Operation Ganga, carried out under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to evacuate Indian students from Ukraine, is proof of the "collective wisdom of 130 crore Indians".
