New Delhi: Amid declining COVID-19 cases in the country, the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha resumed their normal sittings for the second part of the Budget session.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was given a rousing welcome by BJP members in the Lok Sabha on Monday. This is the first time that the House is meeting after the BJP's overwhelming victory in the recent series of assembly elections held in February-March.
The BJP won in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur while the Aam Aadmi Party emerged victorious in Punjab.
Congress President Sonia Gandhi and other opposition leaders were present in the House.
Rajya Sabha will get additional 19 hours of business time in the second part of the Budget session of Parliament, resuming from Monday.
The House will sit from 11 am till 6 pm during the scheduled 19 sittings.
