Voters from 49 constituencies across six states and two Union Territories voted in the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha polls today. The polling ended with an estimated 60.09% per cent polling, spanning from a high of 73 per cent in West Bengal (7 seats) to a low of 48.88 per cent in Maharashtra (13 seats), though the Bollywood brigade was out in full force.
Polling was held for five parliamentary seats in Bihar, Jharkhand (3), Maharashtra (13), Odisha (5), Uttar Pradesh (14), West Bengal (7) and two Union Territories - Jammu and Kashmir (1) and Ladakh (1).
Key candidates in the fifth phase were Union Ministers Piyush Goyal (Mumbai North), Smriti Irani (Amethi), and Rajnath Singh (Lucknow) among others.
With the end of the fifth phase, polling has been completed in 428 Lok Sabha seats across 25 states/UTs with Maharashtra and Ladakh joining those where the poll process has concluded.
