Voting for 88 constituencies in the second phase of the 18th Lok Sabha elections across 13 states and union territories has begun. Over 1,200 candidates, including 4 candidates from Outer Manipur, are contesting the polls.
All 20 seats in Kerala, 14 of the 28 seats in Karnataka, 13 seats in Rajasthan, 8 seats each in Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, 7 seats in Madhya Pradesh, 5 seats each in Assam and Bihar, 3 seats each in Chhattisgarh and West Bengal, and 1 seat each in Manipur, Tripura and Jammu and Kashmir will go to polls tomorrow.
The prominent contestants in the fray for the second phase are Union minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar, BJP's Tejasvi Surya, Hema Malini and Arun Govil, Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Shashi Tharoor, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar's brother DK Suresh and former Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy.
In 2019, the NDA had won 56 of the 89 seats and the UPA 24. Six of these seats have been redrawn as part of the delimitation exercise.
Out of the seven stages, the first phase of the elections were held last Friday for 102 seats across 21 states and Union territories. The polls saw a voter turnout of around 65.5%.

Lok Sabha polls: 73.05% turnout in Chhattisgarh's three seats
A voter turnout of 73.05 per cent was recorded in three Lok Sabha constituencies, all having Maoist presence, in Chhattisgarh in the second phase of polling on Friday, officials said.
However, the figure may go up as final data from several booths was yet to be received, they said.
While polling took place amid tight security, a policeman deployed on election duty allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with a service weapon in Gariaband district, they said.

Lok Sabha Polls: Another BJD MLA Joins BJP Ahead Of Polls In Odisha
Soro MLA Parshuram Dhada on Friday returned to the BJP, weeks after resigning from the ruling BJD, ahead of the Lok Sabha and assembly polls in Odisha. Mr Dhada joined the BJP at an event organised at the BJP's headquarters here in the presence of its state president Manmohan Samal, former president Samir Mohanty and other leaders.

Lok Sabha phase 2 voting: 60.7% Voting Turnout At 5 PM
At 5 pm, 60.7% voter turnout was recorded across 13 states and union territories. Manipur, Chhattisgarh, Bengal, Assam and Tripura recorded over 70% voter turnout while Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Maharashtra recorded the lowest turnout at 52.6%, 53% and 53.5% respectively.

Lok Sabha Polls: Voting Stopped After Clash At Polling Station In Karnataka Village
Voting has been stopped in a village in Karnataka after a clash broke out between two groups at a polling station. It happened in Indiganatta village in Chamrajnagar Lok Sabha constituency.
Soliga and Bedagampana community had decided to boycott voting due to lack of basic amenities in the village. Later, district officials persuaded the Soliga community and they came to the polling station to vote,which angered the people of other community, which led to the clash between the two groups. They attacked the polling station as well , police had to do a mild lathi-charge to control the situation. Few people have suffered mild injuries.

Lok Sabha phase 2 voting: BJP candidate complains of violence in Bengal's Chopra
BJP candidate from Darjeeling Raju Bista has accused the Trinamool Congress workers of unleashing violence in Chopra, one of the seven Assembly constituencies under this Lok Sabha seat. Mr Bista told reporters, "At Chopra, the ruling party workers are openly moving around with firearms. The voters are being intimidated. I have already informed the Election Commission about the matter. There is an urgent need for repolling at several polling booths here."
