Former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot's son Vaibhav Gehlot on Tuesday lost by over two lakh votes from the Jalore parliamentary constituency in the state, the data available on the Election Commission website showed.
Mr Gehlot, who contested from the seat where his father has significant support, lost to BJP's Lumbaram. While Mr Lumbaram received 7,96,783 votes, Mr Gehlot polled 5,95,240.
Speaking to the PTI news agency, Vaibhav Gehlot called Jalore "a tough seat".
"Election results are in front of us. Jalore has been a tough seat. For the last 20 years, Congress could not win this seat but the party directed me to contest from here," he said.
"I would like to thank all the party workers and leaders for their hard work. I would also like to congratulate winning candidate Lumbaram," he added.

In Rajasthan's 25 Lok Sabha seats, the BJP has so far won four and was ahead in 10 against the eight of the Congress. Besides the Congress, other INDIA bloc parties CPI(M), RLP, and BAP were leading in one seat each in the state.
Lok Sabha speaker and BJP candidate Om Birla, Union ministers Arjun Meghwal (Bikaner), Gajendra Singh Shekhawat (Jodhpur), and Bhupendra Yadav (Alwar) were leading, while Union minister Kailash Chaudhary (Barmer) was trailing, the latest EC data showed.
Voting for the 25 parliamentary constituencies in Rajasthan was held in two phases on April 19 and 26.
Earlier in the 2014 and 2019 general elections, the BJP had won all 25 parliamentary seats in Rajasthan.
