Congress leader Salman Khurshid criticised BJP chief Amit Shah for his comments that UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi had "shed tears for terrorists" killed in the Batla House encounter, but not for the policeman who died in the operation.
"He (Amit Shah) might have seen, I did not see Sonia ji crying. If someone emotionally says don't show it to me, let police and government do their job in the face of terrorism or when someone suddenly dies, is it shedding tears?" Mr Khurshid said.
"If he (Amit Shah) calls this crying, then he will also soon cry," the Congress leader said.
On Monday, Amit Shah had said, "When Batla House encounter happened, Sonia Gandhi shed tears on the killing of terrorists; however, she did not cry for the policeman who lost his life in the incident. Congress must answer this."
The Batla House encounter took place on September 19, 2008, against Indian Mujahideen (IM) terrorists at Delhi's Jamia Nagar.
Two terrorists, Atif Ameen and Mohammad Sajid, were killed while two other suspects, Mohammad Saif and Zeeshan, were arrested.
