The Gujarat High court is expected to take up Narendra Modi government's petition challenging the appointment of Lokayukta by the Governor without consulting the Chief Minister.
On August 25, Governor Kamla Beniwal had appointed Justice RA Mehta as the Lokayukta; the state government had challenged the appointment but during last hearing the court had asked the government to amend its petition since Governor cannot be made a respondent.
Today, the government is expected to file the amended petition.
