Bhopal:
The Lokayukta police on Monday raided residences and properties of senior Madhya Pradesh Rural Engineering Services (RES) official S S Ali after a complaint against him for amassing illegal wealth, and seized cash and assets estimated around Rs 20 crore.
Raids were carried out at residences and properties of Mr Ali in three districts.
"Today the Lokayukta team from Jabalpur conducted raids at the residences of assistant engineer S S Ali in Jabalpur, Balaghat, Indore and unearthed assets worth Rs 20 crore. His retirement was due in a year," said Padma Vilochan Shukla, Superintendent of Police, Lokayukta Police.
Mr Ali, 61, was posted for the last two years in Balaghat and officiating as the Executive Engineer.
In the raids that lasted for around eight hours, gold jewellery worth 7 lakhs, 1.5 lakhs cash, three cars, and documents of an engineering college in Balaghat were recovered. Mr Ali now faces a possible suspension and legal action.
