Even as campaigning has come to an end in Kerala that goes to the polls tomorrow, it's been a potluck season for the politically pro-active and aware citizens of the state. It left some smiling, others bearing it with a grin.
The lottery is a play of numbers, and so are elections. In lottery-crazy Kerala, elections are not good news though.
"Sales really dip because people are so excited and busy discussing politics and elections. They don't buy lottery tickets. It will like this till Vishu," says a local from Kerala.
A vegetable seller says because it is election time, he is able to do business in peace. And that's because the police are busy elsewhere.
"Just six months ago, I lost everything after the municipality evicted me and all my belongings. Now things have been peaceful for sometime," he says.
Youth like Juresh, who is an insurance agent, say they can lose their job, today or tomorrow, but politicians worry only about their own future.
"These days there are no jobs. Issues like that, politicians are not bothered about. They worry only about their own future," he says.
