Low intensity quake hits Himachal Pradesh

Shimla: An earthquake of mild intensity jolted Himachal Pradesh's Kangra district and adjoining areas late on Saturday night.

The Indian Meteorological Department said that the epicentre of the earthquake was Kangra. It measured 4.5 on the Richter scale and the tremors lasted up to five seconds, the Met said.

The shocks were felt in Dharamsala, Palampur, Jwalamukhi and surrounding areas.

However, no loss of life or property was reported from any part of the state.

Kangra falls in seismic zone V and is highly prone to earthquakes.
