The state capital shivered at 2.2 degrees Celsius and was recorded as the coldest place, while weather mostly remained dry in other parts of Uttar Pradesh.
According to a MeT report, night temperatures fell markedly in Gorakhpur division, fell appreciably in Faizabad division, rose appreciably in Meerut and changed little in the remaining divisions of the state.
They were appreciably below normal in Gorakhpur, Faizabad, Kanpur, Lucknow, Bareilly, Agra and Meerut divisions, below normal in Varanasi and Moradabad divisions, appreciably above normal in Jhansi division and normal elsewhere, it said.
MeT department has forecast that rain or thundershowers would occur at few places till Sunday.
