Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan on Friday sought 20 lakh mosquito nets treated with insecticide from the Centre to tackle malaria in tribal areas of the state.
In his meeting with union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda in New Delhi, Mr Chauhan said the state government was working on a war-footing to control the serious situation arising from malaria prevailing in the tribal areas, a government statement said.
He said his government will give every household at least two nets.
The chief minister also told Mr Nadda that the state government proposal to open medical universities in Vidisha, Ratlam, Shahdol, Datiya, Khandwa, Shivpuri and Chhindwara were pending approval with the central government.
Mr Chauhan also urged the union minister to ensure the appointment of director of All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Bhopal.
Mr Nadda assured the chief minister of all help from the Centre on the issues raised by him.
