Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today criticised the Congress for opposing the centre's Land Acquisition Bill and asked BJP leaders to reach out to people and farmers to dispel the "misinformation" being spread.
In his concluding address at the two-day Madhya Pradesh BJP executive meeting here, Mr Chouhan said, "The Congress is spreading misinformation about the Land Acquisition Bill.
There is a need to dispel misunderstanding about the Bill which is being spread by the Congress".
"Congress is politicising the Land Acquisition Bill," he said.
He said that the Madhya Pradesh government would celebrate this year as the centenary year of RSS ideologue Deendayal Upadhayaya, by implementing schemes for the welfare of the poor.
Referring to the Madhya Pradesh state Congress protests about the farmers' plight in the wake of unseasonal rains and hailstorm, he said that the party is shedding "crocodile tears".
He said when the Congress was in power in Madhya Pradesh, it didn't care for them, but now it is trying to become their saviour.
He said that the UPA government's crop insurance scheme was faulty and was aimed at benefitting insurance companies.
"We are going to make recommendations to the Central government to remove anomalies in the crop insurance scheme and seek permission to tailor a separate such scheme for Madhya Pradesh," Mr Chouhan said.
