Raisen, Madhya Pradesh:
Nine persons, including two women, were killed and four injured in a jeep-truck collision, close to Budhnighat near here today, police said.
The jeep carrying the victims was on its way to Hoshangabad from Bhopal when it collided head-on with the sand-laden truck, Obdullahganj Police Station In-charge Inspector R V S Kushwaha told PTI.
Nine persons died on the spot, he said, adding the injured have been rushed to Bhopal for treatment. According to initial investigations, the deceased are from Bhopal and Hoshangabad, he said, adding efforts were on to identify them.
After the incident, the truck driver fled from the spot, he said, adding a hunt has been launched to arrest him. A case has been registered and further investigations
were on, he said.
