Madhya Pradesh Woman Dies After Being Shoved Off Train

Om Kumari Temre was returning to Bhopal with two of her daughters, a son and a son-in-law, after the last rites of another daughter who lived in Shajapur

Bercha: A 55-year-old woman was killed after she was allegedly pushed off a train by a ticket checker as she did not have the right ticket in Madhya Pradesh's Shajapur district.

The moving train decapitated Om Kumari Temre after she fell on the tracks at the Bercha station, more than 250 kilometres from Bhopal yesterday afternoon.

She was returning to Bhopal with two of her daughters, a son and a son-in-law, after the last rites of another daughter who lived in Bercha.

The Temre family had General Class tickets but when they saw their compartment on the Indore Jammu Tavi Malwa Express was crowded, they boarded the reserved coach, Jitendra Bankde, the son-in-law of the victim said.

Her daughter Neha said that just as the train was about to depart from the station, a ticket checker started shouting at the passengers who had General Class tickets and pushed them out of the reserved coach.

"I saw my mother fall off the train after the ticket checker pushed her," Neha said. The family now wants the ticket checker punished.

Railway police confirmed that Om Kumari Temre had died after falling on tracks but said only an investigation will find who is guilty. "A case has been registered we have started our probe," said Assistant Sub Inspector Yagyanarayan Pathak.
