Mohd Omar Madni, one of the key "talent spotter" of Lashkar-e-Toiba in the sub continent, visited Bangladesh and Gulf countries several times and received fund mainly from Pakistan, police said on Sunday.
Madni, who was assigned the task of recruiting educated and computer savvy youths from the metros of the country, also met LeT contacts in Patna and Aligarh to hand over money and instructions before he was arrested in Delhi on June 5, police added.
The 50-year-old madrassa teacher, a Nepali citizen of Indian origin, was caught by Delhi Police's elite anti-terror wing, Special Cell, from near Qutub Minar when he arrived to hand-over money to a contact for recruiting people.
"We have information that he travelled to Bangladesh and Gulf countries several times in the past 10 years. We are interrogating him to unravel the whole network," a senior police official said.
Madni was also instrumental in setting up a terror module in Bangladesh and developing that country as a transit point for sending "selected youths" for training at terrorist camps in Pakistan, the official claimed.
Investigators also said they have come across some email addresses in the diaries seized from him. "We are trying to find out who are these people. He had already revealed the identity of about 15 people recruited by him," they said.
They also claimed that his funding mainly came from Pakistan.
