Madurai:
Body of an eight-year-old boy who is suspected to have hid himself in a wooden box while playing hide and seek was found at a school near Madurai, police said.
Jayasurya, the deceased, had been missing since Saturday night and was found last night after his parents filed a police complaint.
Jayasurya is suspected to have been playing with his third-standard classmates at Kilavaneri Panchayat Union Middle school near Tirumangalam, 30km from Madurai, when he hid himself inside the box and it locked accidentally, police said.
He may have died of suffocation after his friends left the school thinking Jayasurya had gone home, they said.
The body of the boy was found after the villager's notified police of a foul smell coming from the school last night, police said.
