Rajasthan government on Saturday imposed a ban on the sale of Maggi noodles in the state following directions from central food safety regulator FSSAI.
"A letter was today issued to ban Maggi in the state. It is in accordance to the FSSAI directions. The ban will be effective from Saturday (today) until the next orders," B R Meena, Director (Public Heath), Medical and Health department, said.
He said that several samples of Maggi noodles have been collected and dispatched to laboratory for testing. "Since the product failed to adhere to safety norms, the ban was imposed," he said.
The state-wide collection of Maggi noodles samples of different batches began two days ago and the samples have been sent for laboratory for testing.
The sample collection will continue till June 10.
