Maharashtra cop sentenced to five years in jail for corruption

Mumbai: A police officer in Maharashtra was today convicted in a corruption case and sentenced to five years in jail.

The IPS officer, AK Jain, will also pay a fine of Rs 1.5 lakh, a Mumbai court ruled.

Jain is a 1982 batch officer of the Indian Police Service.

He and his chartered accountant were arrested by the Mumbai Police in 1998 for taking bribe.
