Bhandegaon, Maharashtra: Keeping with our theme of the Greenathon, here's a story from a village in Maharashtra that still believes in celebrating the festival the green way, making the gulaal and other colours of Holi naturally.
From bougainvilleas to the gulmohars, these flowers are on their way to join in a special celebration.
In Maharashtra's Bhandegaon village every year holi has a distinct colour - it's chemical-free, made using only flowers, leaves and seeds.
"This is possibly the only village in the whole of India that uses only natural colour and not chemical colours. This is being done for decades now. Everyone here uses only natural colours," said Sanjay Nirgude, resident, Bhandegaon.
The preparations begin weeks in advance and everyone is encouraged to participate.
"The specialty of this colour has no negative impact on the skin," said Praful Burse, resident, Bhandegaon.
So, as the country slowly wakes up to the environment friendly option, here in this village the festival of colours follows a long and natural tradition.
