West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday paid tribute to anti-apartheid icon and former South African President Nelson Mandela on his birth anniversary.
"Paying homage to Nelson Mandela on his birthday. Let us remember and always be inspired by his years of struggle," Ms Banerjee said in a tweet.
Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela, born on July 18, 1918, was a South African anti-apartheid revolutionary and politician. He served as President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999.
He was the country's first black chief executive, and the first elected in a fully representative democratic election.
