Mamata cartoon controversy: Human Rights Commission slams arrest of professor

The Human Rights Commission of West Bengal has recommendedthat the state government should pay Rs 2000 each to professor Mahapatra andhis neighbour Subroto Roy for their arrest over forwarding cartoons of MamataBanerjee. The commission, headed by retired Justice AK Ganguly also recommendsdepartmental action against the officer-in-charge and police sub-inspector ofJadavpur police station who arrested the two in connection with cartoon row.
