Midnapore: Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee has called the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPM) "cowards" who couldn't fight her politically and were therefore using guns to terrorise people.
At a massive rally in Midnapore where Buddhadeb Bhattacharya held a public rally on Saturday, Mamata announced that from Thursday, the Trinamool would take to the streets to demand the withdrawal of the joint forces from the West Midnapore district.
Mamata also claimed her rally was much bigger than Buddhadeb's.
Mamata also called for withdrawal of joint security forces from Lalgarh in West Bengal.
Midnapore, 40 km from Lalgarh, is the epicentre of the Maoist movement in the West Midnapore district where joint security forces have been deployed for over a year now to tackle the menace.
