In a scene straight out of a movie, a groom abandoned his wedding ceremony to chase a man in a mini-truck, who snatched his garland of cash, in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut. The incident took place recently on the highway when the groom was riding a horse during his wedding procession, as is tradition.
According to officials, the driver of the mini-truck, who happened to be passing by, simply tore the money garland off the groom and drove off. But the driver would not have expected what followed next.
A video of the incident, which is doing rounds on social media, shows the groom, dressed in a grey suit and red turban, hopping on the bike of a passer-by and chasing after the mini-truck driver on the highway. At one point, he jumps off the bike and tries to climb onto the mini-truck. In the video, the groom can be seen entering the vehicle from the window and stopping it -a daring manoeuvre rarely seen outside the movies.
Seconds later, the groom forced the driver out of the vehicle and started beating him, along with two other people from the wedding ceremony. Another person, carrying cylinders on a bike, also started hitting the driver.
The driver can be seen pleading with the groom to spare him.
The driver reportedly told the groom that he had no intention of stealing and "mistakenly" took the garland of money.
No official complaint was lodged in this incident, which has gone viral.
