After giving the UPA II dinner a skip and then voicing a strong protest against the petrol price hike, West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee today shared the stage at a function with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Dr Singh and Ms Banerjee attended the Science Congress at Kolkata University today. The Prime Minister is in Kolkata for the opening of the centenary year of the Indian Science Congress.
On the occasion, Dr Singh said that the government is investing in Science more than ever before.
A week ago, accompanied by thousands of her supporters, the West Bengal Chief Minister hit the streets of Kolkata to protest against the steep petrol price hike announced by the government. Ms Banerjee marched from her Assembly constituency of Jadavpur to Hazra in south Kolkata.
