Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and nine other political leaders were today elected unopposed to Rajya Sabha from Uttar Pradesh.
Samajwadi Party's Ram Gopal Yadav, state minister Azam Khan's wife Tazeen Fatima, Neeraj Shekhar, son of former Prime Minister Chandrashekhar, Ravi Prakash Verma, Javed Ali Khan
and Chandrapal Singh Yadav were among those elected to the upper house of Parliament.
BSP's Raja Ram and Veer Singh and Congress party's PL Punia were also elected to Rajya Sabha, Principal Secretary, Vidhan Sabha and Returning Officer of Rajya Sabha polls Pradeep Dubey said.
As per the parties' strength in UP Assembly, ruling Samajwadi Party won six seats, BSP two, and BJP and Congress one each.
Congress candidate Mr Punia was supported by Samajwadi Party.
