Kolkata: Unconfirmed reports on Sunday night suggested that Maoist leader, Koteshwar Rao alias Kishenji has been injured in an encounter with security forces in West Bengal's Hatilote village.

Security forces in Jharkhand, Bihar and Orissa are involved in speculation that Kishenji may have been injured in encounter on Thursday or Saturday. Feeding this rumour, are intercepts of telephone conversation between Maoists of "Dada" being hurt - dada referring to Kishenji in this part of the country.

Kishenji is the top Naxal leader in the eastern region of the Red Corridor, known to operate in West Bengal, Orissa and Jharkhand. He is alleged to have planned many Maoists attacks, the latest being that on the Silda Camp.
