Garwah: Maoists on Saturday attacked a makeshift police camp at Parro village in Garwah district leading to an encounter between the two sides with the police claiming that some of the ultras had suffered injuries.
About thirty armed Maoists attacked the camp at around 5 am firing indiscriminately, the Superintendent of Police, Saket Kumar Singh, said here.
Retaliatory fire by the security forces forced the Maoists to retreat into the forests near the foothills, he said.
Bloodstains were found on a large stretch of the area, indicating that the Maoists had suffered bullet injuries, he said adding that the injured extremists might have been taken away by their associates.
Two hand grenades were recovered from the spot, the police officer said adding that combing operations were underway.
The temporary police camp was set up to maintain law and order during the ensuing elections.
