Giridih, Jharkhand: Maoists blew up a school building at Manjiladih in Jharkhand's Giridih district, police said today.

A group of Maoists late last night triggered the blast, damaging the Manjiladih Primary School, district Superintendent of Police Ravi Kant Dhan said.

A police team has been rushed to the spot, he added.

Maoists have been attacking schools to prevent security forces from using them as shelters during their anti-Naxal operations.

According to reports, Maoists have also pasted posters in the district calling for a poll boycott.

Jharkhand goes for a five-phase election from tomorrow with assembly segments in Giridih district scheduled on December 2 and 8.
