Raipur:
Maoists today released five policemen kidnapped from Narainpur-Orchha Road in Chhattisgarh on January 25.
Claiming it as act of humanism, a Maoist leader said they had released the policemen even though the government hasn't agreed to their demands because they too were from poor families.
But this comes on a day when they slaughtered 30-year-old woman and her 4-year-old son in Orissa. The woman, Kandri Lohar, was dragged away from her house and butchered in the Sundergarh forest.
She had surrendered to the police in 2005 and had been employed as home guard by Rourkela police two years later.
As per the rehabilitation package for surrendered Maoists she had also been allotted a plot of land under the Indira Awas Yojana, police said.
