Kolkata: A top CPM leader, Ananta Mukherjee, was gunned down by suspected Maoists in Silda district of West Bengal.
The Maoists pulled up on a motorbike at the Silda High School premises and shot at Mukherjee. His body guard was also injured in the attack.
When the news came to light, angry CPM supporters gheraoed some joint security force personnel to protest against the killing of their leader.
